Journalist Entela Barjamaj and the national Top Channel TV team introduced shocking facts on Top Story, such as one in every three tenders being conducted without fair competition.\u00a0 300 million Euros of taxpayers&#8217; money seem to be lost every year due to abuse with, and misappropriation of, clientelist tenders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AIS, the organization promoting open data in Albania contributed to this courageous television investigation through data released from three important open data databases. Namely:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2960\" height=\"1440\" src=\"http:\/\/ais.al\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screenshot_20200114-165814_Facebook-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15865\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Data concerning tenders and contracts with competition issues published on <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/openprocurement.al\/\" target=\"_blank\">Open Procurement Albania<\/a><\/li><li>data concerning clientelist companies published on <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.opencorporates.al\/\" target=\"_blank\">Open Corporates Albania<\/a><\/li><li>and data concerning payments from the state budget published on <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/spending.data.al\/\" target=\"_blank\">Spending Data Albania<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2960\" height=\"1440\" src=\"http:\/\/ais.al\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screenshot_20200114-164243_Facebook.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15861\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to open data released from our databases, including clear and denouncing arguments, contribution to this programme was also made by Director Aranita Brahaj, who elaborated on the shortcomings of tender procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Corruption is one of the most problematic issues for the country. Justice institutions or anticorruption mechanisms in the country are weak to non-existent. Nevertheless, media and watchdog organisations continue to report facts and contribute against abuse with public money.
