AIS Newsletter February 2022Open Data Fellowship Youth Network: working with young people to increase their capacities
AIS is working with a team of young professionals aiming to educate them and increase their capacities in public speaking and fact-based debating. They come from university auditoriums, important institutions, organizations and civic movements. Strengthening their capacities against corruption through civic education and improving Fact-Checking models are the main goals of the training curriculum, assistance, and internships. The OpenDataFellowship Youth Network is being established within the OpenData Project, Access and Transparency on Corruption Risk Sectors, supported by SIDA through the Swedish Embassy in Albania.
.Money and Power: Media uncovers Economic Interests of Rama 3 Ministerial Cabinet and Family Members
Public control over the economic and personal interests of the government officials is an important process in terms of integrity. AIS has created the online database Money and Power with integrated data, where assets and interests of political leaders or officials in senior positions are regularily published. NewsBomb magazine , a monthly publication, has dedicated a cover story to the Declaration of the Prime Minister and Ministers, i.e the Rama 3 Cabinet Statements. The High Inspectorate of Declaration and Audit of Assets and Conflict of Interests (HIDAACI) has yet to start the online Declaration of Assets. The online publication is offered by our platform Spending Data Albania, Money and Power, creating opportunities for public control of the interests of Ministers, MPs and their family Members .
Public Procurement through the Lens of European Integration: Presentation of a Policy Paper
Public Procurement through the Lens of European Integration - a policy paper prepared by AIS was presented as part of the “February Month of Integration events”. The document details the progress, issues and challenges of one of the chapters of Cluster One, - Public Procurement, emphasizing the extralegal interventions that are being applied by the Albanian Parliament and government. The Policy Paper was drafted by the AIS/OpenDataAlbania as a product of the C1-EU-NPA Project “Improving Policy Debate and Accountability to Fulfill Basic Rights”, through the establishment of the Cluster 1 Negotiation Platform in Albania. The project is implemented by four organizations CSDG, ISP, AHC and AIS with the support of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tirana.
